… why has Obama done nothing to contain this oil spill? It has been close to 2 weeks since the rig exploded and sunk and now the oil is washing up on shore in Louisiana killing birds and fish and other wildlife. You would think Obama would have been right on top of this, getting some navy boats out there skimming the oil or something. But so far nothing. Is he in actuality a corporate crony president?

Coincidence? I don’t think so…. We have an oil spill that is being treated with a toxic agent Corexit…. This agent is able to be absorbed by the air… go to Nalco’s website and look at Corexit’s MSDS sheet to confirm. This catastrophy is getting worse and worse by the day….

Well Pressure testing has started. BP ROV turns off the flow oil be recovered by the surface ships. This is the control valve for the line connected to the damaged blowout preventer’s kill or choke line. Four more valves to close and the flow will completely stop. At that point they will have control over the well. Pressure test will determine if the well bore below the sea floor was damaged during the initial explosion.

i work for an oil company and we made an oops causing oil to spill. since it is summer i want to drive around on my boat and drink some beers instead of dealing with the oil spill. how is the best way to stop it from leaking. we tried top kill junk shot and top hat but it is still leaking. what is best way?

This clip shows the ROV (remotely operated vehicle) backs away from the BOP (blowout preventer) and is going to get a new hydraulic saw that doesn’t leak. The ROV bumps into something down there you can see the whole thing shakes. They drop the tool down gently and head to the surface probably for more hydraulic fluid and a new tool. This is the flow rate after they closed the first of five valves to test the well integrity. Basically low pressure is bad, the higher the pressure readings they get the better. This will tell them if there is any damage to the well bore below the sea floor. One of the relief well is currently 4.5 inches away from drilling into the pipe as relief but they are waiting until they test pressures first. As they close more valves this flow rate should increase until they close the kill and choke lines on the damaged blowout preventer first. Then the flow will be turned off and the capping stack will be venting in two places. One they can just close and the other has a variable valve so they will close it last if everything goes right pressure wise.

BP PLC temporarily suspended siphoning operations on its blown Gulf of Mexico oil well Tuesday after a drill ship collecting the oil apparently was hit by lightning, the company said. A small fire broke out on the top of the derrick on the drill ship Discoverer Enterprise. It was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.

On April 20, 2010, an explosion and fire aboard an oil drilling platform unleashed a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The Deepwater Explorer disaster has imperiled the ecosystem along the US Gulf Coast. Shark species in this part of the Gulf can come into direct contact with the chemicals in the oil, giving their flesh harmful levels of these toxins.

In this clip the ROV (remotely operated vehicle) is trying to look at the level bullseye on the well casing pipe the goes down into the sea-floor. There is so much drilling mud piled up around the base of the well below the BOP (blowout preventer). You can see what looks like black oil seeping from around the pipe at the sea-floor.
