Installing Photovoltaic Solar Power at Home

July 27th, 2010

This vid shows the various steps in planning and having a company (Real Goods Carlson: www.realgoodssolar.com install photovoltaic solar electric power in my rear yard in San Diego; definitely more challenging than a roof installation. My rationale for this: reduce my carbon footprint, buy / own my energy (like I do my house), help address CA’s energy shortfall and take advantage of the state and US government incentives for early adopters to save on the installation. I just uploaded it to Repower America: www.repoweramerica.org

where can I get free solar panels for my home?

July 27th, 2010

Are there goverment grants for solar panels for residential? I live in New Jersey. USA. Or are there any experimental research companies that will install solar panels for free in return for their research purposes?
I just emailed the US Dept of Energy asking them the same question. Anyone know about the US Dept of Energy? What do they do?

Are there weekday rates and weekend rates when using electricity in your home?

July 27th, 2010

Someone posted a question on the message board asking how to conserve and be more efficent in the use of their washing machine at home… several people responded saying to use it only during non peak hours (early morning and weekend mornings) due to businesses being closed and the rates are cheaper… regarding the rates being cheaper – is this true?
If you do have peak rates can you indicate where you live and what company you have? I live in Virginia (Northern) and have Dominion Virginia Power.

Please, read this info below: solarca.biz Solar Energy http Wind Power search.ebay.com Wooden Houses – the oldest building technology ever known. 1 Canadian and Norwegian Cutting Methods Our Company builds log homes by manual cutting. Beside the traditional Russian corners, we assemble the homes by the method of Norwegian lock and Canadian bowl. These log assembling methods are very sophisticated and comply with Canadian and Norwegian technologic instructions. You can evaluate the quality of our constructions by seeing our pictures, visiting our manufacturing plant or our office in Toronto, Ontario. Thanks to the enhanced assembling technology, the corner of a trapezoid bowl dries out and gets stuck firmly, assuring durability of connected logs assembled according to every kind of cutting. 2 Fire safety We use fire safe and environmentally friendly coating of a new generation. This material has the following unique qualities: oHigh level of fire safety; oHigh level of protection against fungi and mould; oHigh level of protection against woodworms and wood borer beetles; oWater resistance that makes log homes durable in a rainy environment; oHigh resistance against acid rains. After home assemblage and before roofing, an acid rainfall affects the timber and changes its colour to grey. The coating provides a high level of protection against discolouration of the wood by ultraviolet sun rays. Frost resistance and efficiency of the coating allow its use under

How much would it cost upfront to install solar panels in my home and what could I save?

July 17th, 2010

I’m curious what the average household spends to install solar panels in California. Also for those of you that have installed them, how much would you say you saved in the first year? The second?

Thank you for your time answering this.
