What is the area that was affected by the Exxon Valdez oil spill like today?

October 28th, 2011

Question by beakbeak35: What is the area that was affected by the Exxon Valdez oil spill like today?
What were the long term ramifications to wildlife and fishing? Has it recovered? I’m hoping that some people from Alaska will be able to respond (for a first hand report), but welcome comments from anyone.
That video you linked does not make the conclusion the crop damage was due to the oil spill. The headline does, but there is no mention made of it when you actually listen to the news story.

It’s still not back to what it was before the spill but there has been a lot of recovery.

Which of the following is incorrect in describing the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spill?

September 3rd, 2011

Question by Eboney: Which of the following is incorrect in describing the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spill?
The spill killed over 5000 sea otters, 300,000 birds.
It involved 41.64 million liters (11 million gallons) of oil.
The oil spilled from a double-hulled, modern tanker on an assigned route.
Complete clean up of the spill is impossible, and scientists are still finding residual oil.
It contaminated and ruined portions of 2400 km (1500 mi.) of coastline.

Best answer:

Answer by thor_torkinson
Not a double hulled tanker. The Valdez is a single hull.

7 superheroes who aren’t doing nearly enough to save the world
They dress in colorful costumes. They have battles in the streets. They say they protect us. But, frankly, protecting us from megalomaniacs and doing everything they can for us are hardly the same thing—and some of the most famous superheroes are so busy striking poses and fighting crime that they never get around to doing what’s really important.
