Why wasn’t the public told earlier about Top Kill?

December 19th, 2010

Question by gws35: Why wasn’t the public told earlier about Top Kill?
Why was the public kept in the dark about Top Kill, while the oil companies tried to save the oil with a big box that didn’t work?

It seemed like Obama cared more about saving the oil than he was in saving the environment from the biggest oil spill in history.

Obama said he was calling the shots from the beginning of the diaster response. When will he explain this decision?

If the public knew about Top Kill from the beginning, don’t you think the public would have demanded to use it, instead of some big box?
crazy2, you mean Obama relied on the fox for advise on how to run the henhouse?

Sounds like a rookie mistake, doesn’t it?

Moments ago, Democrats in the United States Senate were not able to pass sweeping measures to curb America’s addiction on fossil fuels. The bill would cap greenhouse gases and require utility companies to get a percentage of energy from sources like wind and solar. Is green talk just for fun? Or will people actually do something.

Send about 10000 rotating mirrors to Alpha Centuri stars to rotate around them serving as a solar sail pad?

October 4th, 2010

Question by the l: Send about 10000 rotating mirrors to Alpha Centuri stars to rotate around them serving as a solar sail pad?
the rotating mirrors being made from the oort cloud then as the mirrors rotate around the two stars then a solar sail could use the gravity and also the mirrors for photon acceleration
so the solar sail couldnt be making acceleration figure eight around the two stars…(forget about the prima Centuri actually would be the launch pad)

Best answer:

Answer by maary_x
the mirrors would be non exsistant because it would take time for the actual gravitational exsistance of the stars to hit the mirrors and bounce back,by that time the stars would have moved and the gravitional pull would no longer be there. The mirros wouldnt nessicaraly be non ecistant, but they wouldnt have a purpose at all.

Is it about time to pull the plug on windpower? Can taxpayers afford another ethanol boondoggle?

August 3rd, 2010

“According to a recent report by the National Renewable Technology Laboratory (DOE), wind energy could account for 20 percent of the nation’s electricity by 2030. To reach this target, wind turbines would have to produce 300,000 MW of power or 1,000,000 MW installed capacity. The 500,000 plus wind turbines would cost the taxpayers between $5-7 trillion.
The DOE report also states that the 20 percent of electricity from wind power would be the same as that now produced by nuclear power plants. Currently, there are 104 nuclear power plants in the United States that generate over 97,000 MW. Nuclear plants operate at 90 percent capacity compared to 30-33 percent for wind farms (ERCOT).
For a comparable amount of electricity output, a nuclear power plant requires approximately 50 acres of land vs. 80,000 acres of land for wind farms — 1,600 times the land usage for wind generated power! For the same or less taxpayer money, why not put those taxpayer dollars into more nuclear power plants and protect our natural environment from the thousands of square miles of industrial wind turbines dotting the landscape?
Another argument often cited by the pro-wind advocates is the United States will be less dependent upon foreign oil. Let’s clear up this issue right now: No more than 2 percent of the generation of electricity comes from oil.
Can we actually imagine our being held hostage to foreign oil producers over this 2 percent — ridiculous!
According to Thomas Tanton, President, T & Associates, Environmental Fellow, Pacific Research Institute, a wind turbine would have to produce at 100 percent of its capacity nonstop for up to seven years just to offset the CO2 emissions caused by the installation of the concrete base upon which it is erected. This would suggest that it may take as many as 20 plus years to break even on the CO2 emissions.”

http://www.reporternews.com/news/2008/jun/07/no-headline—patricia_lapoint/

Dana, the whole point is that nuke power delivers more bang for the buck over the long haul.

The Wind – advocates publish only partial information…. in an effort to convince taxpayers/consumers that wind power is some angelic, pristine energy source that has minimal impact on our environment. This is simply not true…. AND…. it (windpower) is terribly expensive…. just as ethanol has been and continues to be (as you… of all people should know) ….. with no environmental benefit.

We have been told about the conspiracy, when do people get angry and act to change the continuing evil?

August 1st, 2010

it’s been hyped up to be “just a conspiracy” but more and more concrete evidence is proving that 9/11 was done by our own gov’t and for the greed our administrators have for oil, the most valuable resource on the planet. everyday new light is shed on the subject, yet I rarely hear of anything being done to confront the issue on a level that will right all the wrongs that have been done. why? this is america, land of the free, why can we not take back our own land and restore it to the values it was founded upon?

If the Iraq War is about oil profits, then how does one explain our deficit?

July 31st, 2010

“The Bush administration has put American taxpayers TRILLIONS of dollars in debt because of an insipid ‘war’ that was illegally initiated to satisfy George Bush’s vendetta against Hussein and satisfy Cheney’s lust for OIL profits.”

This is a qoute from an answere to a question I placed earlier. If the Bush Admin and the Cheney Group are so sophisticated in thier conspirotory plots, then why do we (the US) have such an obvious debt, all the while the plot to take oil profits was some how missed in all the sophisticated planning for the conspiracy, in the effort to fool the American people? How can we have so much debt, if we are getting so much oil? How could this increased surplus in oil result in a shortage worldwide with such an increase and effect on gasoline prices? Lower prices would produce less scrutiny, thus allowing the conspiratory plot go on without question relative to oil prices and the profits of the conspiritors to be much more.
