Question by Project JT: what can I do to help alleviate the Gulf oil spill disaster?
I know I’m just 17 and I don’t live off of the Gulf Coast (I live in North Carolina), but I know that I’ve been trying to come up with ways that could stop the oil from flowing underwater but none of my ideas seem to work out. So are there alternative ways to help, because I don’t like just sitting here and seeing our beautiful Gulf and the animals suffering. =/

I commend your open honest desire to assist our neighbors, and their properties with the damage caused by this catastrophe. Or perhaps by contacting the American Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/ ) you may find other ways to assist? PETA is also extremely alarmed at the havoc being wreaked upon animals and wildlife (http://www.peta.org/mc/NewsItem.asp?id=14798 ). I hope this helps to ease your concerns?
