month to do so? What a joke! How long do you guys think that it should have taken for this well to be plugged up? I think that it should have taken a day, two days, or a week at most.

  1. First all, BP has lied through their teeth from the very beginning about this, so anything they say should be taken with a oil tanker full of salt.

Secondly, the last time something like this happened, it was in very shallow water … and it took nine months to cap.

This is in mile deep, no one has ever capped a blowout at this depth, and it is an extraordinary technical; challenge. If they’ve actually managed to plug it, it’s an effing miracle they were able to plug it so soon.

The thing that should be enraging people is that this accident was completely preventable, and if the company had been forced by regulators to have the proper safety devices installed, we wouldn’t be here now. Other countries insist that proper precautions be taken in this sorts of drilling, but in Washington industry gets whatever they want, and if it goes sour, the public picks up the tab. The founding fathers are spinning in their graves at what their creation has become.
