Question by Kenny D: Has anyone been watching BP’s live video feed?
They completed the top kill connection and it looks like they have started force-feeding the heavy drilling mud into the BOP choke and kill lines. But it also looked like the main feed line connection to the choke and kill lines began to leak pretty bad when they started the force-feeding, first a lot of air and then a lot of muddy fluid. Does anyone know if that is normal?
It is my understanding that the pressurized drilling mud is intended to overcome the well pressure and then choke and kill the oil flow, and if it does then the drilling mud will be followed with cement to seal the well. It was interesting to watch the remotely operated underwater vehicles work but since I am not familiar with what is happening, I am just wondering if a bad mud leak at the main feed line connection to the choke and kill lines means that they are having difficulty overcoming the well pressure? Is there anyone here who knows if the mud leak at that main connection is normal?
