How does NASA talk to people on the moon but we lose cellphone service?

Question by pb.porsh: How does NASA talk to people on the moon but we lose cellphone service?
My mom asks this all the time but I have no answer and am now wondering myself. I don’t believe sending men to the moon was a conspiracy like many people, but do want an answer. How come NASA talks to people on the moon, but we lose cell phone service in our own homes or standing right beside each other?

  1. They have a LOT nicer and more expensive communication services than the phone you keep in your purse! Also, their communications tower is right next to the facilities, and they’re not on the move, so they’ll never “drop a call.” And the shuttles are out in space, with nothing to interfere with the signal to the satellite.

Maybe you could help me with mine. I could use a girl’s opinion, and I think you’ll have fun answering it! Details PLZ!
