steam powered generator 2 kVa
My dad built this, a 8kVa is coming soon!
Harry shows off the WHE at the Steam Automobile Club of America meet 2010. Cyclone Power Technologies Waste Heat Engine (WHE, pronounced “we”) recaptures heat from external sources to create steam which powers the engine. The WHE models are designed to run a grid-tied or primary electric power generator while producing ZERO Emissions. The WHE is designed to run on heat as low as 500ºF from many different external sources of “wasted” heat such as: * Commercial or small-scale industrial ovens or furnaces * Landfill and industrial gas flares * Engine exhaust — from vehicles or power generators * Biomass combustion — dry, vegetative waste materials
Otherpower Steam Generator
Here’s another video of our steam powered back up generator on a snowy day producing 2KW. The fuel is lodge pole pine. The video shows the engine, and then a shot at the wall shows the 3 phase rectifer we use to rectify the 3 phase AC into DC for battery charging. I have a similar generator on my ‘listeroid’ 6/1 diesel engine, the knife switch allows me to select diesel, or steam – so the two systems share the same rectifier. The web page about the machine is at otherpower.com/steamengine.shtml

Q&A: What is the typical start up and shut down time of a steam turbine generator set?
Question by Sarah: What is the typical start up and shut down time of a steam turbine generator set?
Just looking for a very basic range. I know a typical full load test is around 4 hours, but how long does it take to get to that point? And how long does it take to go from running a full load to being completely powered off? Is it seconds, minutes, hours, days?? Any ideas or references would be much appreciated.

Answer by Simon R
If steam is available then zero to full might be about 30 seconds
If you include the steam generating plant, hours is typical.

How to convert steam back to water quickly?
Question by Mr Macroni: How to convert steam back to water quickly?
I am working on a green source energy project.A solar powered steam generator.I need some idea for how to cool the steam back to water quickly? and turn the water back to the steamer again.That way i don’t have to refill the steamer with water all the time.Any idea?
Somebody is not getting it.Here is how.
Water + solar heated lens ->steam
Steam->generator
Used steam ->water
water->Lens steamer
Hope this help

the stuff they put in refrigerators and freezers, i don’t think its freon anymore but whatever it is haha, and to turn it back, just hook up a pipe from the steam end through the freon and back to the water end.

What solar equipment is necessary to power a steam generator for a home steam bath?
Question by liz: What solar equipment is necessary to power a steam generator for a home steam bath?
The generator I have is rated at 12 KW, requires 220V and 33Amp service to heat a room of 500 cubic feet. The power is only needed periodically and for short periods of time, 30 – 60 minutes a day. (on a rare occasion, twice a day.) How do I plan, organize and calculate the required equipment?
Best answer:
Answer by Mitch
You want to power it with Photovoltaic panels?
Or are you asking about passive solar pre-heaters?
If you are going to buy Photovoltaic panels, just call up a install firm and get some. There is a 30% tax credit for them now even. But why you are specifically tying the PV panels into your sauna is just confusing. It would sure make for an expensive sauna.

Physics, heat: What is its maximum theoretical efficiency?
1)One of the most efficient engines ever built is a coal-fired steam turbine in the Ohio valley, driving an electric generator as it operates between 1870°C and 430°C.
(a) What is its maximum theoretical efficiency?
%
(b) Its actual efficiency is 42.0%. How much mechanical power does the engine deliver if it absorbs 1.4 105 J of energy each second from the hot reservoir?
