Question by : What espresso machine should I buy?
Hi I’m looking for an espresso machine up to ,800 does anyone know if a machine for that price that has a high-power steam generator, and produces high quality espresso, etc.

Filmed in the summer of 2005. ~20 gallon boiler from an old steam ship (refurbished and re-certified by my dad), max pressure 250psi with a pressure release valve set at 150psi. The steam engine was hand-built by someone else, my dad just re-painted it and machined new mechanical parts. That’s a 3kW generator outputting 120VAC ~60Hz in-phase across all outlets. We had four machines plugged in and charging. The generator had no problem with the output as long as we could keep the steam pressure up. The low point was approximately 50psi; below that the steam engine couldn’t keep up enough RPMs to keep the power at 120V.

is steam generator is a name for “steam power plant”? No – a steam generator can just be a device for making steam – like for cleaning grease off of metal parts. However, it can be a short hand term for a power plant that generates power by steam.
Components
A source for pure water
Something to make steam – fire from coal, oil, or gas or heat from nuclear power or hydrothermal wells
Turbines with blades to be spun by the steam to get mechanical movement
Generators to be turned by the turbine.
Some way of cooling the pure water so it can be reused if needed.

GIANT FRESNEL LENS TROUGH MIRROR Green Jobs Training. www.greenpowerscience.com This took all day to set up and nothing went right:-) I went through three leaks and hose breaks. The max power was 20 watts, pretty weak. The treadmill motor produced about 25v no load and was able to get the GTI working:-) BUT it did not last long. This should be much stronger. I rushed today because it was our first REAL day of sun in over 1 month. MORE TO FOLLOW. The Boilers were all wrong, this was about 1% efficient. Shot 3 hours of video, only 2 minutes worth showing. THAT TYPE OF DAY.

This is the first video from our “Viewers Video” segment where we showcase GreenPowerScience inspired work or other work that offers great ideas in the Green Energy Field. Joe Carruth built this by himself and this is the third prototype of his design. The unit weighs 1.5 tons and is 12.5 ft x 14.5 ft of active collection area. He currently manually tracks the sun for testing and hopes to get some funding to bring this project to a self contained version that can be available for Alternative Power production.

Cyclone Power Technologies Waste Heat Engine (WHE, pronounced “we”) recaptures heat from external sources to create steam which powers the engine. The WHE models are designed to run a grid-tied or primary electric power generator while producing ZERO Emissions. The WHE is designed to run on heat as low as 500ºF from many different external sources of “wasted” heat such as: * Commercial or small-scale industrial ovens or furnaces * Landfill and industrial gas flares * Engine exhaust — from vehicles or power generators * Biomass combustion — dry, vegetative waste materials

Here’s another video of our steam powered back up generator on a snowy day producing 2KW. The fuel is lodge pole pine. The video shows the engine, and then a shot at the wall shows the 3 phase rectifer we use to rectify the 3 phase AC into DC for battery charging. I have a similar generator on my ‘listeroid’ 6/1 diesel engine, the knife switch allows me to select diesel, or steam – so the two systems share the same rectifier. Question by Sarah: What is the typical start up and shut down time of a steam turbine generator set?
Just looking for a very basic range. I know a typical full load test is around 4 hours, but how long does it take to get to that point? And how long does it take to go from running a full load to being completely powered off? Is it seconds, minutes, hours, days?? Any ideas or references would be much appreciated.

If steam is available then zero to full might be about 30 seconds
If you include the steam generating plant, hours is typical.
